Porthmadog’s waterside path opens to more people

An uneven stretch beside the water in Porthmadog has become a more accessible route for a daily walk or a trip into town. The Cob Crwn path extension is now open, with improvements designed for people using wheelchairs, mobility scooters and pushchairs as well as walkers and cyclists.

Previously, parts of the informal route were grassy and uneven. Gwynedd’s planning report explains how replacing those sections with a firm, level surface would remove an everyday barrier to access.

The route starts near Llyn Bach car park, with a bus stop nearby. Welsh Government and UK Shared Prosperity Fund support paid for the work, delivered jointly by council teams.

Some finishing work will continue over the coming weeks, and the opening reports do not yet show how many people are using the improved route.

For residents who previously found the uneven ground difficult, though, a familiar waterside space is now easier to reach and enjoy.
