A woodland café creates jobs and puts its profits back into the valley
A community café near Holywell has created 12 local jobs in its first six months, with young team members learning barista, customer service and hospitality skills.
Y Caffi reopened at Greenfield Valley after a refurbishment supported by public funding. Its profits go back into caring for the heritage site, linking everyday café spending with the valley’s upkeep.
Manager Carrie-Anne Jones grew up visiting the valley and now brings her own family. She describes regular customers returning alongside walkers and families. Community Wednesdays add puzzles and book swaps to the mix.

The café’s visitor guide lists opening hours of 10am–4pm, seven days a week, and asks larger groups to arrange their visit ahead. Outdoor seating gives people a place to pause beside the woodland.
This is an early account from the people running it; proposed winter additions are still plans.
For now, the practical gains are already there: local work, opportunities to learn and a shared meeting place whose profits support its surroundings.
