Funded childcare for two-year-olds expands across Ceredigion
Eligible families across Ceredigion can now access funded childcare for two-year-olds, following a countywide expansion in November. The offer provides up to 12.5 hours a week with participating registered childcare providers.
Ceredigion County Council says the extension brings the Welsh Government programme to communities throughout the county. The hours can give children more opportunities to play and learn while easing some care costs for parents and carers.
The Cambrian News also reported the November start and countywide reach. Funded hours are not the same as universal access: families must meet eligibility rules, apply, and find available childcare space with a participating local registered provider.
That practical limitation will shape how many households benefit, so take-up and local capacity deserve follow-up. Even so, the live expansion means support that was previously limited by area can now be sought across rural Ceredigion — a wider doorway into early learning and more flexible family routines.
