Felixstowe’s morning dancefloor brings neighbours together
At nine in the morning, a Felixstowe café has been making room for dancing, conversation and a cup of coffee.
Vanessa Fullerton-Batten and her husband Ben Kay started Coffee & Clubbing after moving to the Suffolk town. Cuppa has hosted two sessions, giving people a way to enjoy familiar dance music without committing to a late night.
The hour-long gatherings have mainly attracted people in their forties and fifties. Kay, who DJs, told the BBC he enjoys being able to see people smiling and dancing in daylight.

This is still a small, developing event, with no formal evidence of lasting wellbeing improvements. The organisers’ booking page lists a longer afternoon session at Beach Street on 14 November; that event is ticketed for adults aged 18 and over.
Its immediate benefit is simpler: a sociable space for people who miss the dancefloor. Fullerton-Batten says nobody needs to be a seasoned raver to come along, chat, listen or dance.
