Crime proceeds fund free skateboarding for Bangor children
Thirty Bangor children tried skateboarding for free during a school-holiday session funded through money recovered from crime. The £250 grant covered coaching and equipment for children aged five to twelve, removing the cost of a first attempt.
Herald Wales reports that the session built on an earlier £2,000 award to the local project. Organisers described children gaining confidence as they learned to balance, move safely and support one another.
The Police and Community Trust for North Wales explains that its grants use the Police Property Act Fund to support community projects. It says more than 2,500 initiatives have received help since 1998. A single session is brief, and the report does not measure whether children keep skating afterwards.
For one holiday day, though, a small grant turned seized value into open access. Thirty children received equipment, instruction and a safe place to try something new — a direct community return from money linked to harm.
