1Password proposes a way for AI agents to sign in without seeing passwords
1Password has introduced a platform intended to let AI agents authenticate to websites while keeping a user’s passwords out of the agent’s view, according to the supplied briefing.
The described workflow lets an agent request access to credentials in a user’s vault. Once the user approves, 1Password fills the credentials into the destination website rather than exposing them directly to the agent.
Separating a password from the software acting on a user’s behalf could reduce one route for credential exposure. It does not by itself establish what an agent may do after signing in. Product availability, approval controls and supported websites still need to be confirmed.
