Volunteers brave the rain to clean up Loch Lomond's shores

Dedicated volunteers rolled up their sleeves and headed out in wet weather to help clean up the shores of Loch Lomond this week.

The event was organised by Friends of Loch Lomond and The Trossachs (FOLLAT), with support from volunteers from JP Morgan and AECOM. Litter-picking equipment was provided by the Grab Trust.

Working along the busy A82 corridor between Arden and Ardlui, volunteers spent the morning collecting rubbish and helping to protect one of Scotland's best-known natural attractions ahead of the busy summer season.

The clean-up formed part of FOLLAT's Make a Difference (MAD) programme, which brings together businesses, community groups and local residents to help look after the National Park.

FOLLAT chairman John Urquhart thanked everyone involved for giving up their time, and the Lodge on Loch Lomond Hotel for hosting the event and providing refreshments.

With visitor numbers expected to increase over the coming months, organisers hope the clean-up will help ensure Loch Lomond continues to be enjoyed by both local residents and tourists throughout the summer.
