London Cable Car Brings Back 'Chatty Cabins' to Help Tackle Loneliness

Transport for London is relaunching its popular Chatty Cabins on the London Cable Car as part of Loneliness Awareness Week, running from 15-19 June.

The initiative encourages passengers travelling between Greenwich Peninsula and the Royal Docks to strike up conversations with fellow riders. Each participant gets a free round-trip cable car journey and a hot drink.

TfL is partnering with charities Camerados, Marmalade Trust and Strangers In The City to host additional events throughout the week. A games night on 16 June will feature team challenges, while a pop-up Public Living Room at Greenwich Peninsula Terminal will offer a welcoming space for people to chat and connect.

The programme comes as City Hall research estimates around 700,000 Londoners feel lonely always or most of the time. Organisers hope these activities will spark open conversations about loneliness while helping people build new connections across the capital.

Many events require advance booking, and all are open to Londoners and visitors alike.
