One Harlow visit brings physiotherapy and practical support together
David and Camilla left a Harlow community appointment day with exercises, feedback about an X-ray and advice from a dietitian, all from one visit.
They were among more than 100 patients with lower-limb muscle and joint conditions who attended the Latton Bush Centre on 28 September. Two NHS trusts brought physiotherapists, community services and voluntary organisations together there.
Patients discussed what mattered to them, received assessments and tried exercises. Other support covered diabetes, housing, wellbeing and staying active, recognising that managing pain can involve more than a medical appointment.

The approach follows national NHS guidance on community appointment days, which recommends designing services with local communities and building teams around their needs.
The hospital has not published measured changes in pain or waiting times from this event. Positive feedback describes the experience of attending, rather than proving lasting health improvements.
Still, David and Camilla received help they could use, without navigating separate services alone. Their feedback will help shape future days in West Essex.
