Father and son from Norwich break three world records cycling 18,000 miles around the globe

George Kohler and his 23-year-old son Josh have returned home to Norwich after breaking three world records on an epic year-long cycling adventure around the world.

The pair covered 18,000 miles over 14 months, cycling through Asia, Australia, South America, and Europe. They earned Guinness World Records for the fastest bicycle circumnavigation, the longest bicycle journey, and the most countries visited in a continuous bicycle journey by a father and son.

The journey wasn't without its challenges. "One thing we weren't prepared for was the emotional challenges," Josh said. "When you are with someone for so long, disagreements do happen frequently. We had one unwritten rule that we would never go to sleep on an argument."

Among countless highlights, Josh recalled a magical moment in remote Turkey when a shepherd beckoned them over to share his breakfast by a campfire. "We wouldn't speak Turkish, and he couldn't speak English, but we had this incredible interaction with him."

The 57-year-old chimney sweep and his son were welcomed home by friends and family they hadn't seen in years, completing their remarkable father-son adventure.
