14,000 People Help London Zoo Break World Record with Giant Wildlife Artwork

More than 14,000 visitors have helped London Zoo and Whipsnade Zoo set a new Guinness World Record for the most contributions to a paint-by-numbers artwork.

The record-breaking creation was produced to celebrate the 200th anniversary of the Zoological Society of London, the conservation charity behind both zoos. The giant artwork features 21 panels showcasing 200 different animals and was completed in just one week.

Visitors of all ages picked up paintbrushes to add their own colourful contributions to the project. An official Guinness World Records adjudicator visited London Zoo to confirm the achievement and present a certificate.

Guinness World Records adjudicator William Sinden said the attempt had united visitors in a unique and memorable way, praising it as an example of community spirit and shared passion for wildlife.

Victoria Sage, Events Manager at ZSL, said the project reflected the charity's aim of connecting people with wildlife and was a fitting celebration of 200 years of conservation work.

The completed artwork will be displayed at London Zoo before moving to Whipsnade Zoo later this year. Everyone who participated will receive an official certificate recognising their contribution.
